Dahl palak (spinach & split peas)

Ingredients:
1/2 cupSplit peas
2 cupWater
1/4 tspTurmeric
1/2 tspSalt
1 lbsSpinach, chopped
3 tbspButter/oleo
1 tbspGinger, fresh and chopped
4 Garlic cloves, chopped
1 tbspGaram Masala
1 tbspLemon juice
1 pinchSalt
Procedures:
1Soak split peas in 2 cups water 1 hour.
2Add turmeric and ?ts salt to split peas.
3Boil 10 mins in same water used to soak peas.
4Add spinach and cook until most of the liquid has been absorbed and split peas are done.
5Meanwhile, heat butter/oleo in a skillet.
6Add ginger and garlic.
7Cook until garlic is golden.
8Add garam masala (see recipe called "garam masala").
9Immediately add the seasoned ginger and garlic to the spinach-split pea mixture.
10Add lemon juice and salt to taste and serve
