Ingredients:
1/2 cupAll purpose flour
1/3 cupButter
1 clGarlic, pressed
1 tbspGrated onion
1 tspWorcestershire sauce
1/2 tspDry mustard
1 dashWhite pepper
3 cupChicken broth
1 1/2 cupHalf-and-half
1 cupBeer
1 lbsShredded sharp cheddar
Procedures:
1Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
2In large saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour.
3Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly until smooth and bubbly.
4Add garlic, onion, worcestershire sauce, salt, mustard and pepper; blend well.
5Gradually stir in chicken broth, half-and-half and beer; cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
6Add cheese; stir until melted.
7Heat gently, stirring often, but do not allow to boil.
8Serve with croutons.
