Ingredients:

| large | Ripe tomatoes | | 1/4
| cup | Basil leaves, torn | | 6
| slice | Country style bread, cut | | | -- ? thick & halved | | 3
| large | Garlic cloves, lightly | | | -- crushed | | | Salt & pepper | | 4
| tbsp | Olive oil |

Procedures:
| 1 | Wash the tomatoes & cut them in half. | | 2 | Remove as many seeds as possible & dice them. | | 3 | Set them in a small bowl & combine with the basil leaves. | | 4 | Grill or broil the bread slices & turn them so that both sides are light brown. | | 5 | Rub each slice with a garlic clove. | | 6 | Spoon some of the tomato mixture over the bread, sprinkle with the salt & pepper & drizzle with olive oil. | | 7 | Serve immediately. | | 8 | Variation: fettunta co rucola. | | 9 | Replace the basil with 1 small bunch of arugula, stems removed & leaves finely diced |
