Apple streusel muffins

Ingredients:
TOPPING
4 tbspFinely chopped pecans
1/4 cupBrown sugar
1/4 cupAll-purpose flour
1/4 tspMace
2 tbspChilled butter
MUFFIN
1 3/4 cupAll-purpose flour
3/4 tspSalt
1/4 cupSugar
2 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspCinnamon
2 Eggs
3/4 cupMilk
4 tbspMelted butter
1/2 cupChopped apple
Procedures:
1Grease 12-muffin cups or line with paper.
2For topping, combine all ingredients and rub together with fingertips until completely blended.
3Set aside.
4For muffin mix, combine dry ingredients in a bowl or on wax paper and stir to combine.
5Beat eggs in a medium bowl.
6Beat in milk and butter.
7Add dry ingredients and give 10 or so vigorous strokes.
8Add apple pieces and stir a few more times.
9Put a spoonful of batter into each muffin cup, divide half the topping among the muffins, spoon on remaining batter, then sprinkle with remaining topping.
10Bake at 400 °F for 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
