Ingredients:

| cup | All purpose flour, sifted | | 2 1/2
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 1/4
| cup | Sugar | | 2
| cup | Raisin bran flakes | | 2/3
| cup | Milk | | 1
| | Egg | | 1/4
| cup | Soft vegetable shortening | | 1/2
| cup | Sugar | | 1/2
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 2
| cup | Cooking apples, pared and | | | -thinly sliced |

Procedures:
| 1 | Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and ?cup sugar. | | 2 | Set aside. | | 3 | Combine bran flakes and milk, add egg and shortening; beat well. | | 4 | Add sifted dry ingredients; stir only until blended, but do not beat. | | 5 | Spread in a greased 8x8x2 inch pan. | | 6 | Mix together ?cup sugar and ?ts cinnamon. | | 7 | Dip apple slices in mixture; arrange on top of batter. | | 8 | Sprinkle any remaining sugar mixture over apple slices. | | 9 | Bake at 400°F about 30 minutes. | | 10 | Cut in squares and serve warm |
