Ingredients:
2 cupFlour
1 tspSalt
2 tbspBrown sugar
3/4 cupMilk
1 tspCinnamon
2 tbspMelted butter or butter
-substitute
3 Apples
4 tspBaking powder
4 tbspShortening
2 cupChopped raisins
1 Egg, well beaten
2 tbspBrown sugar
Procedures:
1Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder, salt, and sugar.
2Cut in shortening and add raisins.
3Add sufficient milk to which egg has been added to make a stiff dough.
4Mix thoroughly.
5Pour into well-oiled shallow pan.
6Brush dough with melted butter.
7Pare, quarter, and core apples and cut in thin slices.
8Arrange in rows in the dough, allowing edges to overlap.
9Brush apples with more melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar which have been mixed together.
10Bake in moderate oven (400°F) 20 minutes or until apples are tender.
