Maple date bars

Ingredients:
3/4 cupWhole wheat flour
1/2 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspBaking soda
1/2 cupChopped dates
1/2 cupMaple syrup
2 largeEgg whites
1/2 tspVanilla
Procedures:
1In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and dates.
2Add syrup, egg whites, and vanilla; beat until smoothly mixed.
3Spread batter evenly in a nonstick (or lightly oiled regular) 8" square pan.
4Bake in a 350°F.
5Oven until cake is golden brown, just begins to pull from pan sides, and springs back when lightly touched in the center, about 20 minutes.
6Serve warm or cool, cut into about 2" squares.
7Store as directed.
