Ingredients:
4 cupAll-purpose flour sifted 3

Baking powder
1/4 cupSugar
1/4 tspSalt
3 tbspGrated lemon peel
1/2 cup(1 stick) unsalted butter
-cut into ?inch

2 Eggs, room temperature
-beaten to blend
2/3 cupMilk or buttermilk
All-purpose flour (for
-rolling)
Whipping cream
Procedures:
1Makes 16 to 20 preheat oven to 450°F.
2Grease and flour baking sheets.
3Sift flour, sugar and salt into deep bowl.
4Stir in peel.
5Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
6Blend in eggs and just enough milk or buttermilk to form soft but not sticky dough.
7Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface.
8Gently roll or pat dough to about ?inch thickness, lightly flouring as necessary to prevent sticking.
9Cut out rounds using 2-inch flourd biscuit cutter.
10Set ?inch apart on prepared baking sheets.
11Brush with cream.
12Bake until scones are golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
