Ingredients:

| cup | Apple cider or juice | | 1
| | Cinnamon stick | | 1/4
| tsp | Salt | | 1
| cup | Irish oatmeal | | 5
| oz | Dried peach, apricot, and | | | -pear halves in any | | | -combination, cut into 3/8 | | | -inch dice (about 1 C) | | | Honey or dark-brown sugar | | 1/2
| cup | Low-fat milk, warmed |

Procedures:
| 1 | In a heavy saucepan, bring 2 c water, the apple cider, cinnamon stick, and salt to a boil. | | 2 | Add oatmeal, stir until smooth, and return to a boil. | | 3 | Lower heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes. | | 4 | Remove saucepan from heat. | | 5 | Discard the cinnamon stick and stir in all but about ?c of the dried fruit. | | 6 | Divide oatmeal among 4 bowls and top with honey, if desired. | | 7 | Garnish with remaining fruit; serve with warm milk. | | 8 | Martha stewart living/october/94 scanned & edited by di pahl & |
