Fruited buttermilk scones

Ingredients:
2 cupWhole wheat pastry flour
2 tspBaking powder
1/4 tspBaking soda
1/2 cupButter, small pieces
4 tbspMaple syrup
1 Peach or nectarine, diced
1/2 tspOrange peel, grated
1/2 cupButtermilk
1/4 tspNutmeg
Procedures:
1In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
2Cut in butter and maple syrup.
3Stir in fruit and orange peel.
4Make a well in center of this mixture; pour in buttermilk.
5Stir until moistened.
6Pat dough into a ball, and knead on floured surface for 3 minutes.
7Shape into a dome.
8Place on lightly oiled cookie sheet, and bake at 350 °F for 15 minutes.
9Then, with sharp knife, score top into quarters, making cut ? deep.
10Continue baking another 20 minutes; top will be golden brown when finished
