Ingredients:

| cup | Oatmeal | | 1 1/2
| cup | Boiling water | | 1/2
| cup | Shortening | | 1 3/4
| cup | Brown sugar | | 1
| cup | Sugar | | 6
| tbsp | Butter | | 1
| cup | Coconut & nuts (optional) | | | 2 ea Eggs | | 1 1/2
| tbsp | Cinnamon | | 1
| tbsp | Soda | | 1/2
| tbsp | Salt | | 1 1/3
| cup | Flour | | 1/3
| cup | Cream or evaporated milk |

Procedures:
| 1 | Frosting: mix ?c brown sugar, butter, cream and coconut. | | 2 | Spread over cake after baking and broil until bubbling. | | 3 | Cake: mix and set aside oatmeal and boiling water. | | 4 | Mix remaining ingredients and add to oatmeal. | | 5 | Bake in 9" x 13" pan at 350 °F for 30 to 35 minutes |
