Ingredients:
1 lbsGround Beef
1/3 lbsSmoked Bacon
3/4 cupGreen Pepper, Chopped
1 cupOnions, Chopped
8 ozTomato Sauce
1/8 cupMustard
4 tbspLiquid Hickory Smoke
1 cupWater
4 tbspVinegar
2 tspGarlic, Minced
1 tspThyme
3/4 cupBrown Sugar
96 ozPork 'n Beans
Salt to Taste
Pepper to Taste
Procedures:
1In a large frying pan, cook ground beef in its" own fat.
2Add green pepper and onion.
3Saute until beef is brown and vegetables are limp.
4With the exception of 4 strips of bacon, cut bacon into 2-inch strips and add to ground beef mixture.
5Stir in the tomato sauce, water, vinegar, garlic, mustard, thyme, brown sugar, liquid hickory smoke, and salt and pepper to taste.
6Simmer together 5 minutes.
7Turn pork "n beans into a greased 1 ?quart baking dish.
8Spoon meat mixture over top.
9Place long strips of bacon over top of ground beef.
10Bake at 375 °F for 45 minutes
