Ingredients:
1 cupBroth & defatted drippings
2 tspAll purpose flour
1 tspCornstarch
1 tspKetchup
1 pinchSalt
1 pinchFreshly ground pepper
1 pinchBasil (beef) or sage (chick)
Procedures:
1A waist-watcher gravy - quite thin.
2Serve over meat or potatoes.
3Cook up bones as for soup, strain liquid.
4Refrigerate overnight or until white fat on top can be removed with a spoon.
5Refrigerate meat drippings from the pan and skim off the fat.
6Combine broth, flour and cornstarch in a screw-top jar, cover and shake until well combined or use a blender for a larger batch.
7Pour into saucepan, stir in ketchup, salt, pepper and basil for beef (or sage for turkey, or other herb of your choice).
8Stir-cook over medium heat until gravy thickens.
9(mine didn"t thicken but i had some lumps of flour or cornstarch).
10Makes about 1 cup.
