Beef stew with homemade dumplings

Ingredients:
1 lbsBeef chuck steak
-- cut into 1-inch cubes
1/2 lbsCarrots
1/4 cupFlour
1 largeOnion
1 tspThyme leaves
3 medPotatoes
1/2 tspSalt
1/2 tspPepper
2 Celery stalks
2 tbspVegetable oil
2 cupBiscuit mix
Fresh parsley
Dumplings
1 Bay leaf
2/3 cupMilk
3 cupBeef broth
1/4 cupRed wine
Procedures:
1When it"s chilly outdoors, stay warm with a flavorful stew that will remind you of old-fashioned pot roast.
2Coat beef cubes with a mixture of flour, thyme, salt and pepper.
3In a dutch oven, saute beef in oil over med-high heat to brown.
4Add bay leaf, broth and wine.
5Bring liquid to a boil.
6Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour.
7Stir occasionally.
8Cut carrots, onion, potatoes, and celery into 1-inch chunks.
9Add vegetables to stew.
10Bring to a boil.
11Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 40 min. mix dumplings and drop batter by spoonfuls onto boiling stew.
12Cook dumplings uncovered 10 min. cover stew and cook dumplings 10 minutes longer.
13To serve, sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired.
