Rich caramel sauce

Ingredients:
1 cupBrown sugar
1 1/2 tspCornstarch
1 cupLight cream
1/4 cupButter
1 tspVanilla
Procedures:
1Combine the brown sugar and cornstarch in the top of a double boiler.
2Gradually add the cream and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
3Place over simmering water.
4Add the butter and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and thickens slightly.
5Cook for a few minutes longer, stirring often, about 10 minutes in all.
6Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and brandy.
7Serve hot over steamed pudding.
8Yields about 2 cups sauce
