Ingredients:
1 cupSugar, white
1/4 tbspSalt
1 tbspGinger
1/2 tbspCinnamon
1/2 tbspCloves, powdered
1 cupVegetable oil
1 cupMolasses (light)
2 tbspBaking soda (That's baking
-soda, not baking powder)
1 cupWater, boiling
2 1/2 cupFlour, all-purpose
-unsifted
2 Eggs, well beaten
Procedures:
1Mix the sugar, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves together in a bowl.
2Add the vegetable oil and the molasses, stirring until well-blended.
3Mix the baking soda into the boiling water and immediately stir into the mixture.
4Add the flour gradually, mixing well after each addition.
5Mix in the beaten eggs.
6Pour into a greased 9x13 baking pan and bake at 350 °F.
7For 40 minutes.
8Top with whipped cream or lemon sauce.
9Notes: * best-ever gingerbread -- this moist gingerbread is a good recipe for the holidays or any other time.
