Ingredients:

| cup | Softened butter | | 1/2
| cup | Sugar | | 1 1/2
| cup | Packed brown sugar | | 2
| | Eggs | | 2 1/2
| tsp | Vanilla | | 2 1/2
| cup | All purpose flour | | 3/4
| tsp | Salt | | 1
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1
| tsp | Baking soda | | 18
| oz | Semisweet chocolate chips |

Procedures:
| 1 | Preheat the oven to 350°F. | | 2 | In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. | | 3 | Sift together the flours, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. | | 4 | Combine the wet and dry ingredients. | | 5 | Stir in chocolate chips. | | 6 | With your fingers, place golf-ball-size dough portions 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. | | 7 | Bake for 9 minutes, or until edges are light brown. | | 8 | Note: do not exceed baking time even if they look underbaked. | | 9 | Finished product should be soft in the middle and crunchy around the edges. | | 10 | Variations: substitute milk chocolate for the semisweet and/or add 1-?cups of chopped walnuts or macadamia nuts to the recipe before baking. | | 11 | For the best cookie, don"t substitute margarine for the butter. |
