Sour cream sugar cookies

Ingredients:
3 cupAll-Purpose Flour
1/2 tspGround Nutmeg
1/2 tspBaking Soda
1/4 tspSalt
1 cupButter -- softened
1 cupSugar
2 Egg Yolks
1/4 cupDairy Sour Cream
1 tspVanilla
Powdered Sugar Glaze
(Optional)
Procedures:
1In bowl stir together flour,nutmeg,soda, and salt; set aside.
2In large bowl beat butter 30 seconds.
3Add sugar, egg yolks, sour cream and vanilla.
4Beat until well combined.
5Add half flour mixture, beat until combined.
6Stir in remaining flour mixture with a wooden spoon.
7Divide dough in half.
8If necessary, cover and chill dough until easy to handle (about 1 hour) on floured surface, roll dough, half at a time, to 1/8 inch thickness.
9Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
10Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
11Bake in 350f oven 5 to 7 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned.
12Transfer to wire racks, cool.
13If desired, glaze with powdered sugar glaze.
14To glaze cookies, dip top surface of cookies into glaze.
15Let excess glaze drip from cookies and dry on wire rack placed over waxed paper.
16Using small paintbrush, paint designs on each cookie with food coloring, if desired.
17Makes 72 cookies.
18Powdered sugar glaze: in bowl, combine 2 cups sifted powdered sugar and ?tsp. vanilla.
19Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk to glazing consistency.
20Add milk to thin, if necessary
