Ingredients:
1/3 cupButter or margarine, melted
2 cupQuaker Oats, uncooked
-- (quick or old-fashioned)
1/2 cupBrown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cupDark corn syrup
1/2 tspSalt
1 1/2 tspVanilla
6 ozSemi-sweet chocolate pieces
-- melted
1/4 cupChopped nutmeats
Procedures:
1Pour butter over oats; mix thoroughly.
2Add sugar, syrup, salt and vanilla; blend well.
3Firmly pack into well-greased 11 x 7-inch metal baking pan.
4Bake in preheated very hot oven (450°F).
5About 12 minutes.
6(mixture will be brown and bubbly).
7Cool thoroughly.
8loosen edges; invert pan and tap firmly against bread board or cutting board.
9Spread with chocolate.
10Sprinkle with nutmeats.
11Chill; cut in small bars.
12Store in refrigerator.
