Ingredients:
1 1/2 cupBrown sugar
1 cupShortening
1 cupChopped figs, raisins, or
-dates
1/2 tspBaking soda
2 tspBaking powder
1 tspCinnamon
1 cupChopped nuts
2 Eggs, well beaten
2/3 cupSour milk
1 1/2 cupRolled oats
2 cupCake flour
1/2 tspCloves
1/2 tspSalt
Procedures:
1Cream shortening and sugar.
2Add eggs.
3Beat thoroughly.
4Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices.
5Add rolled oats.
6Add alternately with milk to first mixture.
7Add nuts and fruit.
8Mix thoroughly.
9Drop by teaspoonfuls onto well-oiled baking sheet.
10Bake in moderate oven (375°F) about 12 minutes.
