| 1 | Beat shortening and sugar together until creamy. |
| 2 | Blend in egg and vanilla. |
| 3 | Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. |
| 4 | Stir in oats. |
| 5 | Chill dough several hours. |
| 6 | Roll out on lightly floured board or canvas to 1/8-inch thickness. |
| 7 | Cut out "tree-tops" with floured 3-?inch round cutter. |
| 8 | Cut out "tree trunks" about 1 inch tall with sharp knife. |
| 9 | Place circles on greased cooky sheet; attach "tree trunks". |
| 10 | Press cinnamon candies into "tree tops" and sprinkle with green colored sugar. |
| 11 | Sprinkle "tree trunks" with chocolate shot. |
| 12 | Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F). |
| 13 | 8 to 10 minutes. |
| 14 | Note: cookies can be cut with a tree-shaped cutter, if desired. |
| 15 | Decorate as above. |
