Butterscotch rolled cookies

Ingredients:
COOKIES
1 cupBrown sugar
1/2 tbspSalt
1/2 cupButter, softened
1 Egg
1/2 tbspVanilla
1 3/4 cupFlour, sifted
1/2 tbspBaking powder
1/4 tbspBaking soda
1/4 tbspCinnamon
GLAZE
1 1/2 cupConfectioner's sugar
1 Egg white
-slightly beaten
1 tbspButter, melted
1/8 tbspSalt
1/2 tbspVanilla
Food coloring
-(optional)
Procedures:
1Mix sugar, salt and butter thoroughly.
2Add egg and vanilla and beat till fluffy.
3sift flour, baking powder, soda and cinnamon and add to mixture.
4Chill well, several hours, or overnight.
5make the glaze: mix the glaze ingredients together until smooth.
6roll the dough out until it is about 1/8 inch thick.
7Cut into fancy shapes and bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes at 350 °F.
8Let cool and glaze.
9notes:
10* rolled cookies for the christmas holidays -- i almost never make these cookies except at christmas time.
11They just seem to be christmas cookies.
12(i did make a batch of heart shaped ones last valentine"s day for my then-fiance).
13I usually make these cookies in christmas shapes and frost them with green and red frosting.
14This is a good recipe for kids to help out with.
15* it helps to keep most of the dough in the refrigerator while you are cutting shapes.
