Ingredients:
1 3/4 cupFlour
1/2 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspBaking soda
1/8 tspSalt
1/2 cupButter, sweet, softened
1 cupSugar
2 Egg
1 tbspLemon peel, grated
1 1/2 tspVanilla extract
1/2 tspAlmond extract
1 1/2 cupPine nuts
2 tspAnise seed (crushed)
Procedures:
1Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
2Cream margarine, add sugar, beat in eggs one at a time until light.
3Add flour mixture and blend well.
4Blend in lemon peel and vanilla and almond extracts.
5Mix in pine nuts and anise seed .
6Mix until just blended.
7Cover dough and chill about 2 hours.
8preheat oven to 350.
9Butter and flour 2 baking sheets.
10Divide dough into 4 pieces.
11Flour hands and roll each piece into 1 ?inch round log.
12Dough is sticky.
13Put 2 logs on each baking sheet - spaced about 4 inches apart.
14Bake until tops are lightly browned or about 18 minutes.
15Cool slightly on baking sheets.
16transfer logs to a cutting board.
17Cut crosswise into ?inch thick slices.
18Put cut side down on baking sheet.
19Bake about another 10 minutes.
20Cool on wire rack.
