Ingredients:
1/4 cupSugar
2 tbspShortening
1/2 cupCurrants
1 1/2 tbspMinced candied orange peel
1 1/2 tbspMinced candied lemon peel
1/8 tspNutmeg
1/8 tspCinnamon
1/2 Egg, slightly beaten
2 tbspCookie or biscuit crumbs
1 1/2 tbspMinced candied citron
Procedures:
1Cream shortening and sugar.
2Add candied peel, citron, currants, crumbs, nutmeg, cinnamon, and egg.
3Mix thoroughly.
4Cut plain pastry in rounds 6 inches in diameter.
5Place 1 tablespoon of fruit mixture on ?of each round.
6Moisten edges.
7Fold like a turnover.
8Press edges together.
9Crimp.
10Brush with slightly beaten egg, or water.
11Sprinkle with sugar.
12Bake in hot oven (450°F) 10 minutes, or until brown.
