Ingredients:

| cup | Sugar | | 2
| tbsp | Shortening | | 1/2
| cup | Currants | | 1 1/2
| tbsp | Minced candied orange peel | | 1 1/2
| tbsp | Minced candied lemon peel | | 1/8
| tsp | Nutmeg | | 1/8
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 1/2
| | Egg, slightly beaten | | 2
| tbsp | Cookie or biscuit crumbs | | 1 1/2
| tbsp | Minced candied citron |

Procedures:
| 1 | Cream shortening and sugar. | | 2 | Add candied peel, citron, currants, crumbs, nutmeg, cinnamon, and egg. | | 3 | Mix thoroughly. | | 4 | Cut plain pastry in rounds 6 inches in diameter. | | 5 | Place 1 tablespoon of fruit mixture on ?of each round. | | 6 | Moisten edges. | | 7 | Fold like a turnover. | | 8 | Press edges together. | | 9 | Crimp. | | 10 | Brush with slightly beaten egg, or water. | | 11 | Sprinkle with sugar. | | 12 | Bake in hot oven (450°F) 10 minutes, or until brown. | | 13 | Florence taft eaton, concord, ma. |
