Baker's secret sugar cookie hearts

Ingredients:
1 cupButter, unsalted
1 cupSugar
2 Eggs
1 tbspVanilla
3 cupFlour
1 tspSalt
1/2 tspBaking soda
ICING
1 cupConfectioners' sugar, sifted
2 tbspMilk
Multicolored nonpareils
Procedures:
1Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2Blend in the eggs and vanilla; mix well.
3Stir together the flour, salt and baking soda; mix into the sugar mixture until well blended.
4Chill for 2 hours.
5Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
6Divide the dough into quarters.
7Roll out one quarter on a lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness.
8Cut into heart shapes with a 2-inch cutter; place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
9Bake for 5 to 8 minutes or until the cookies are barely browned at the edges.
10Cool on a wire rack.

13Spread on the cookies; sprinkle with the nonpareils.
