Ingredients:
| 2
| cup | Unbleached All-Purpose Flour | | 1
| tsp | Baking Soda | | 1/8
| tsp | Salt | | 2
| tbsp | Vegetable Shortening | | 1/2
| tsp | Minced Onion | | 1 1/2
| tsp | Celery Seed | | 3/4
| tsp | Crushed Red Pepper Flakes | | 2/3
| cup | Water (Approximately) |
|
Procedures:
| 1 | In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine the flour baking soda and salt, blending well. | | 2 | Add the shortening all at once and process until the mixture becomes coarse meal. | | 3 | Add the onion, celery seed, and red pepper flakes. | | 4 | Drizzle the water through the feed tube a little at a time, using only as much water as necessary for the batter to form a ball (the amount of water will vary with every batch). | | 5 | Divide the dough in half and on a well-floured board, roll out each half to 1/8-inch thickness. | | 6 | Cut into squares or rectangles with a knife or pizza cutter. | | 7 | Place the crackers on a lightly greased cookie sheet, piercing each cracker 3 times with a fork. | | 8 | Repeat for the remaining half of the dough. | | 9 | Bake at 350 °F. | | 10 | For 20 to 25 minutes or until medium brown. | | 11 | Cool on a wire rack. | | 12 | Makes 50 to 60 crackers or enough for about 2 cups of dip. |
