Ingredients:
1/4 cupWater, warm
1 cupMilk, scalded and cooled
3/4 cupSugar
1 tspSalt
3 Eggs
1/2 cupMargerine
5 cupFlour
1 Eggs
2 packYeast
1 tspSugar
Procedures:
1* dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl.
2Stir in milk, ?cup sugar, salt, 3 eggs, margerine, and 3 cups flour.
3Beat until smooth.
4Stir in remaining flour (may need up to a cup more than called for) until you have a easily managable dough.
5* turn out dough on floured surface; knead 5 minutes.
6Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up; cover and let rise 1 ?to 2 hours.
7* punch down dough and divide in two.
8Shape each into a round, slightly flat load.
9Place each loaf in round layer pan (9x10 ?inches) that has been greased.
10Cover and let rise until double (about 1 hour).
11Heat oven to 350 degrees.
12Beat 1 egg slightly and brush over loaves.
13Sprinkle with 1 tsp. sugar.
14Bake until loaves are golden brown (35-45 minutes).
15Makes 2 loaves.
