Ingredients:

| cup | Flour | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 1
| tsp | Soda | | 1
| cup | Butter, or shortening | | 1
| cup | Sugar | | 1/2
| cup | Dates, chopped | | | 2 ea Eggs | | 1/4
| cup | Orange juice | | 2
| tbsp | Orange rind, grated | | 1
| tsp | Vanilla | | 2
| cup | Rolled oats | | 1/2
| cup | Nuts, chopped/your choice |

Procedures:
| 1 | Sift the dry ingredients. | | 2 | Cream the butter (or shortening) together with sugar, until light and fluffy. | | 3 | Add the well beaten eggs, orange juice and rind, vanilla and mix well. | | 4 | Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. | | 5 | Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. | | 6 | Bake at 375 °F for about 15 minutes.-----barb |
