Southern corn chowder

Ingredients:
1/2 lbsBacon, cut into 1 in pieces
2 Onions, sliced, small
1 tbspFlour, all purpose
1 cupWater
2 cupRaw potato, finely diced
1/2 cupCelery, chopped
2 Bay leaves
2 lbsCorn, cans cream style
1 cupMilk
1 tspSalt
1/4 tspWhite pepper
Procedures:
1Fry bacon until crisp, drain on absorbent paper and set aside.
2Reserve ?cup bacon drippings and place in a kettle.
3Saute onion in bacon drippings for about 5 minutes.
4Blend in flour and mix to a smooth paste.
5Gradually add the water and stir until smooth.
6Add the potatoes, celery and bay leaves.
7Cover and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes or until potatoes are done.
8Stir occasionally.
9Blend in corn, milk, seasonings and bacon.
10Heat for 15 minutes.
11Serve hot.
12Yield: 5 to 6 servings.
