Country ribs with apples & kraut

Ingredients:
3 lbsPork ribs, lean, country-
-style, trimmed of any
-excess fat.
1 canSauerkraut, undrained, 16 oz
1 medOnion, thinly sliced and
-separated into rings
1 canMushroom stems and pieces
-drained, 8 oz
1 largeApple, cored and cut into
-wedges ( or 2 small apples)
1/4 cupBrown sugar
1/2 tspCelery seed
Procedures:
1Brown ribs in slow cooker pot (or skillet) on top of range over medium heat.
2Season with salt and pepper.
3Transfer cooker pot to base unit or meat from skillet into cooker pot.
4Layer sauerkraut, onion, mushrooms, apple wedges and brown sugar over ribs.
5Sprinkle with celery seed.
6Cover and cook at setting #3 in west bend (low) for 7 ~ 9 hours or at setting #5 in west bend (high) for 3-4 hours until meat is tender.
