Patty ann's strawberry tarts

Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter
1 cupSugar
3 cupFlour
2 Eggs
1/2 tspBaking Powder
1 cupPecans -- finely chopped
1/2 tspSalt
1 tbspBrandy Or Rum Flavoring
1 Jar Smucker's=AE Strawberry
Procedures:
1: preserves -- (18 0z.
2Jar)
3oven 350=b0°F.
4in large bowl of mixmaster put sugar, butter, eggs and flavoring.
5Beat until light and fluffy.
6Remove from mixer and by hand, work in dry ingredients and nuts.
7grease a 9 x 13-inch pan and dust with flour.
8Press 2/3 of dough into pan.
9Spread the jar of preserves over this.
10Lattice remaining dough in strips over preserves.
11Bake at 350=b0 for 25-30 minutes.
12Let cool in pan until lukewarm, so that hot preserves won"t burn you when you cut cookies into squares.
13store in tin box between layers of wax paper.
14Can be frozen.
15to lattice dough:
16roll small pieces between palms or on lightly floured surface.
17You will have to piece strips.
18You can"t roll them all in one piece.
19Keep hands or fingertips floured to make strips.
20note:
21you may substitute smucker"s=ae raspberry preserves.
22I could never find raspberry preserves around christmas.
