| 1 | Heat oven to 350°F. |
| 2 | Lightly grease cookie sheet. |
| 3 | Beat margarine and sugar until fluffy. |
| 4 | Blend in egg and vanilla. |
| 5 | Add combined oats, flour and baking soda; mix well. |
| 6 | Share into 1" balls; roll in nuts. |
| 7 | Place on prepared cookie sheet. |
| 8 | Bake 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. |
| 9 | Remove from oven; gently press chocolate candy into center of each cookie. |
| 10 | Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. |
| 11 | Cool completely. |
| 12 | Store tightly covered. |
| 13 | makes 3 ?dozen cookies. |
| 14 | notes: dough may be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to two days. |
| 15 | candied cherries may be substituted for chocolate candy, if desired. |
