Mrs. yoder's gingersnaps

Ingredients:
1 cupSugar
1 cupMargarine, or
1/2 cupLard, and
1/2 cupButter
2 tspSoda
1 cupMolasses
1 tbspGinger
1/4 cupWater, hot
1 1/2 cupFlour
Procedures:
1Mix together sugar, shortening, molasses and ginger.
2Dissolve soda in hot water.
3Add to sugar mixture.
4Stir in flour.
5Pinch off little pieces of dough the size of walnuts.
6Place on greased baking sheet.
7Space them, as when put in oven they will puff up and when done will flatten out and crackle all over top.
8Bake at 350 °F for 8 to 10 minutes, checking often as they burn easily.
9Let cool before removing from pan.
