Mrs fields gingersnaps

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cupFlour
1/2 tspSoda
1/4 tspSalt
2 tspGinger
1 tspCrystallized ginger, diced
1/2 tspAllspice
1/2 tspBlack pepper
1 1/4 cupDark brown sugar, packed
3/4 cupButter, softened
1 largeEgg
1/4 cupUnsulfured molasses
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 300d f.
2In a medium bowl combine flour, soda, salt, ginger, crystallized ginger, allspice and pepper.
3Mix well and set aside.
4In a large bowl, mix sugar and butter with an electric mixer set at medium speed.
5Scrape down sides of the bowl.
6Add egg and molasses, beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
7Add the flour mixture and mix at low speed just until combined.
8Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour--the dough well be less sticky and easier to handle.
9Form dough into balls 1 inch in diameter.
10Place onto ungreased cookie sheets, 1 ?inches apart.
11Bake 24-25 minutes.
12Use a spatula to immediately transfer cookies to a cool, flat surface
