Mother's strawberry tarts (christmas)

Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter
1 cupSugar
3 cupFlour
2 Eggs
1/2 tspBaking powder
1 cupPecans, chopped fine
1/2 tspSalt
1 tbspBrandy or Rum flavoring
1 Smuckers Strawberry >>>>
-preserves--18oz. jar.
Procedures:
1In large bowl of mixer put sugar, butter, eggs, and flavoring.
2Beat until light and fluffy.
3Remove from mixer and by hand, work in dry ingredients and nuts.
4grease 9x13 inch pan and dust with flour.
5Press 2/3 of dough into pan.
6Spread jar of preserves over this.
7Lattice remaining dough in strips over preserves.
8Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
9to lattice dough: roll small pieces between palms or on lightly floured surface.
10You will have to piece strips.
11You can"t roll them all in one piece.
12Keep hands or fingertips floured to make strips.
13let cool in pan until luke warm, so that hot preserves won"t burn you when you cut cookies into squares.
14Store in tin box between layers of wax paper.
15Can be frozen.
