| 1 | In large bowl of mixer put sugar, butter, eggs, and flavoring. |

| 3 | Remove from mixer and by hand, work in dry ingredients and nuts. |
| 4 | grease 9x13 inch pan and dust with flour. |
| 5 | Press 2/3 of dough into pan. |
| 6 | Spread jar of preserves over this. |
| 7 | Lattice remaining dough in strips over preserves. |
| 8 | Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes. |
| 9 | to lattice dough: roll small pieces between palms or on lightly floured surface. |
| 10 | You will have to piece strips. |
| 11 | You can"t roll them all in one piece. |
| 12 | Keep hands or fingertips floured to make strips. |
| 13 | let cool in pan until luke warm, so that hot preserves won"t burn you when you cut cookies into squares. |
| 14 | Store in tin box between layers of wax paper. |
| 15 | Can be frozen. |
