Ingredients:
1/3 cupMolasses
1/4 cupShortening
2 tbspSugar, brown
1 1/4 cupFlour
1/2 tspSalt
1/4 tspBaking soda
1/4 tspBaking powder
1/4 tspCinnamon, ground
1/4 tspGinger, ground
1/4 tspCloves, ground
1 dashNutmeg
1 dashAllspice
EASY CREAMY ICING
1 cupSugar, confectioners
1/4 tspSalt
1/2 tspVanilla
1 1/2 tbspCream, light
Procedures:
1Mix thoroughly the molasses, shortening, and sugar.
2Blend in the remaining ingredients except the icing.
3Cover.
4Chill for at least four hours.
5heat the oven to 375°F.
6Roll the dough to 1/8-inch thickness, or, if desired, paper-thin on a lightly floured cloth-covered board.
7Cut into the desired shapes.
8Place about ?inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
9Bake for eight minutes or until set.
10remove from the baking sheet immediately; cool.
11Frost with easy creamy icing.
12easy creamy icing: mix all of the ingredients together until smooth and of spreading consistency.
13Tint with food color if desired.
14makes about 3 dozen 2-inch cookies (about 5 dozen if rolled paper-thin).
