Ingredients:
| 3/4
| cup | SHORTENING | | 1
| cup | SUGAR | | 1/4
| cup | MOLASSES | | 1
| each | EGG, BEATEN | | 2
| cup | FLOUR | | 2
| tsp | BAKING SODA | | 1/2
| tsp | GROUND CLOVES | | 1/2
| tsp | GROUND GINGER | | 1
| tsp | CINNAMON | | 1/2
| tsp | SALT |

Procedures:
| 1 | In a saucepan over low heat, melt shortening. | | 2 | Cool. | | 3 | Beat in sugar, molasses, and egg until well combined. | | 4 | Sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. | | 5 | Add to molasses mixture. | | 6 | Mix well and chill. | | 7 | Roll to ?inch thickness. | | 8 | Cut with your favorite cookie cutter. | | 9 | Place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. | | 10 | Bake at 375 deg f. for 8 to 10 minutes. |
