Mint macaroons

Ingredients:
3 Egg whites
1/4 tspCream of tartar
1/8 tspSalt
3/4 cupSugar
1/4 tspPeppermint extract
2 cupFlaked coconut
1 packSemisweet, (6 ozs)
Chocolate chips, reserving
4 Chocolate chips
Procedures:
1Recipe by: betty crocker"s cookbook heat oven to 300 degrees.
2Grease cookie sheet lightly.
3Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt in medium bowl until foamy.
4Beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time.
5Continue beating until stiff and glossy.
6Do not underbeat.
7Fold in peppermint extract, coconut and chocolate chips.
8Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart onto cookie sheet.
9Place a chocolate chip on each cookie.
10Bake 20 to 25 minutes or just until edges are light brown.
11Cool 10 minutes; remove from cookie sheet.
