Ingredients:

| oz | Semisweet chocolate | | 3
| oz | Butter, softened | | 2
| | Eggs | | 1
| cup | Sugar | | 1
| tsp | Vanilla extract | | 1/2
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1/4
| tsp | Salt | | 1/2
| cup | All-purpose flour | | 1/2
| cup | Walnuts, coarsely chopped | | | VANILLA LAYER | | 5
| oz | Mascarpone | | 2
| oz | Butter, softened | | 1/4
| cup | Sugar | | 1
| | Egg | | 1
| tsp | Flour | | 1/2
| tsp | Vanilla extract |

Procedures:
| 1 | Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler (or microwave). | | 2 | Cool to room temperature. | | 3 | beat the eggs, gradually add the sugar, then vanilla, and finally add slowly the melted chocolate to the beaten eggs, until well blended. | | 4 | in a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt and walnuts. | | 5 | Add the eggs/chocolate mixture, and mix until blended. | | 6 | in another bowl, mix well the mascarpone cheese and butter. | | 7 | Add sugar, egg, flour and vanilla. | | 8 | Mix until blended. | | 9 | preheat oven to 360°F (180 c). | | 10 | layer a square 9" baking pan with parchment paper, and butter the paper and the sides of the pan. | | 11 | Pour 2/3 of the chocolate mixture, and flatten with a spatula. | | 12 | Add the vanilla mixture, flatten. | | 13 | Using a spoon, add the remaining 1/3 of the chocolate mixture. | | 14 | Using a knife, mix slightly the two top layers, to create a marble effect. | | 15 | Don"t overmix. | | 16 | bake 30 to 35 minutes. | | 17 | Cool before cutting to squares. |
