| 1 | Sift first six ingredients together. |
| 2 | Cream shortening and sugar well, then beat in molasses. |
| 3 | Add dry ingredients and stir until well mixed. |
| 4 | Wrap dough and chill. |
| 5 | Roll out half of the dough to a ?inch thickness on a lightly floured board. |
| 6 | Cut with lightly floured 3-inch cookie cutter. |
| 7 | Arrange cookies on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 °F for 10 minutes. |
| 8 | cool on cookie sheet for 1 to 2 minutes or until set. |
| 9 | Romove from chookie sheet with wide spatula and cool on wire rack. |
| 10 | Store in airtight container. |
