Frosted pumpkin-walnut cookies

Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter/margarine, softened
1 1/2 cupBrown sugar, firmly
2 Eggs
1 cupPumpkin -cooked, mashed
1/2 tspLemon extract
1/2 tspVanilla extract
2 1/2 cupFlour - all purpose
1 tbspBaking powder
1/2 tspSalt
2 tspPumpkin pie spice
1 cupWalnuts, chopped
1 Maple frosting recipe
1/4 cupButter/margarine, softened
2 1/4 cupPowdered sugar, sifted
2 tbspMilk
3/4 tspMaple extract
Procedures:
1Cked cream butter; gradually add brown sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
2Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
3Stir in pumpkin and flavorings.
4Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and pumpkin pie spice.
5Gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
6Stir in walnuts.
7Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets.
8Bake at 375f for 12 minutes.
9Cool on wire racks.
10Frost with maple frosting.
11Yield: 7 ?dozen.
12(maple frosting) cream butter; gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
13Add remaining sugar alternately with milk, beating until smooth enough to spread.
14Add maple extract, and beat well.
15Yield: about 1 cup
