Ingredients:
FILLING
1 cupSliced mushrooms
-- fresh, or canned, drained
1/2 cupChopped onion
2 tbspButter or margarine
1/3 cupDairy sour cream
MEAT LOAF
1 1/2 lbsGround beef
3/4 cupQuaker Oats, uncooked
-- (quick or old-fashioned)
1 Egg
2 tspSalt
1/4 tspPepper
1 tspWorcestershire sauce
2/3 cupMilk
Procedures:
1For filling, lightly brown mushrooms and onion in butter in medium-sized skillet.
2Remove from heat; stir in sour cream.
3For meat loaf, combine all ingredients thoroughly.
4Place half of meat mixture in shallow baking pan.
5Shape to form an oval base.
6Lengthwise down the center make a shallow "well" for the filling.
7Spoon filling into "well".
8Shape remaining meat mixture over filling, making sure all filling is covered.
9Seal bottom and top meat mixtures together.
10Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F).
11About 1 hour.
12Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
