Gammon (ham) steaks with whiskey sauce

Ingredients:
4 xHam steaks
2 tbspFinely chopped onion
1 tbspBrown sugar
1 tbspWhiskey
1 ozFlour
1 ozButter
3/4 cupWater or stock
1 xSalt or pepper to taste
Procedures:
1Brush steaks with melted butter.
2Snip fat to prevent curling, and grill for 7-8 minutes each side.
3-- to make sauce, gently fry onions in remainder of butter until cooked.
4Remove from heat and stir in flour gradually.
5Add stock.
6Return to heat.
7Add sugar and bring to the boil.
8Simmer gently for about 2 minutes to cook flour.
9If sauce seems a little thick, add more water.
10Add whiskey and season to taste.
11Place gammon steaks on a warmed serving platter and pour on sauce.
12-- serve with peas and carrots, or sauteed potatoes
