| 1 | Slice the onions and make rings approx. ?inch in width. |
| 2 | dip into buttermilk, then coat with the flour. |
| 3 | Dip into buttermilk again, then coat with the unsalted cracker meal. |
| 4 | (works best if you use the "wet hand, dry hand" method) |
| 5 | place rings onto wax paper. |
| 6 | Separate layers with additional sheets of wax paper. |
| 7 | best if allowed to refrigerate overnight to allow batter to "set". |
| 8 | deep fry until golden-brown. |
| 9 | Salt if desired at serving time. |
