Ingredients:

| tbsp | Vegetable oil | | 1
| small | Onion, chopped | | 1
| large | Egg, lightly beaten | | 1
| lbs | Ground beef | | 1/4
| cup | Water | | 1/2
| cup | Plain bread crumbs or more | | | -if required | | 1 1/2
| tsp | Onion powder | | 1 1/2
| tsp | Garlic salt | | 4
| med | Potatoes, scrubbed & sliced | | 1
| | Frozen crinkle cut carrots | | | -20 oz. size |

Procedures:
| 1 | Recipe by: the great american meatloaf contest cookbook heat the oil in a skillet on medium-high heat. | | 2 | Reduce the heat to medium once oil is hot. | | 3 | Place the onion on the bottom of the pan. | | 4 | In a large bowl, mix the egg, beef, water, bread crumbs, onion powder and garlic salt. | | 5 | Press meat into the bottom of the bowl to form a rounded loaf. | | 6 | Invert the bowl to remove and place the loaf on top of the onion. | | 7 | Place the sliced potatoes around the loaf and the carrots atop the potatoes. | | 8 | Sprinkle the entire thing with additional seasonings if desired. | | 9 | Cover and cook for about 1 hour. | | 10 | After 30 minutes turn the meatloaf over and stir the vegetables. | | 11 | Additional water may be added also. |
