Onion blossoms

Ingredients:
2 largeSweet onions, unpeeled
1/2 cupMayonnaise
1/2 cupSour cream
1 tbspChili powder
2 1/2 tspCajun seasoning, divided
1 1/2 cupFlour
1 cupMilk
Oil for deep frying
Procedures:
1Leaving root end intact, peel oputer skin off onion.
2Cut a small slice off top.
3Starting at the top of onion and on one side make a cut downward toward root end, stopping 1/8th inch from bottom.
4Make additional cuts 1/8 inch fron first until there are cuts completely across top of onion.
5Turn onion ?turn so slices are horizontal to you.
6Repeat cuts, 1/8 inch apart, until it looks like a checkerboard pattern across top.
7To make dip: in a small bowl combine mayonnaise, sour cream, chili powder and 1 ?teaspoons cajun seasoning.
8Mix well.
9In 1 gallon plastic bag combine flour and remaining cajun seasoning.
10Place milk in small, deep bowl.
11Coat cut onion with flour.
12Dip in milk and then in flour mixture again.
13Fry in enough oil to cover onion at 350 °F for 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
14Place on serving plate.
15Discard very center of fried onion blossom.
16Place a few spoonful of dip in center.
17Serve immediately.
