Ingredients:
1 lbsGreen beans, fresh
4 cupWater, salted
3 tbspPeanut oil
1 Garlic clove, mashed
1/2 tbspGround cumin
1/4 tbspPaprika
1/4 tbspGround cloves
1 tbspAlmonds, slivered
Procedures:
1Clean and trim green beans.
2Simmer in lightly salted water until just tender, about 30-45 minutes.
3Drain and put in serving dish.
4put remaining ingredients (except almonds) in a saucepan over medium heat and cook for two minutes, stirring constantly.
5Add the almonds and stir briefly to coat.
6Pour the oil mixture over the green beans and toss gently until beans are thoroughly coated.
7Serve warm.

9* algerian green beans with almonds -- this is a variation on an algerian recipe from rose dosti"s "middle eastern cooking." since when is north africa in the middle east? you may well ask.
10* canned green beans are not an acceptable substitute in this recipe.
11Powdered garlic is probably ok.
