Ingredients:
2 cupFlour, all-purpose
1/4 cupSugar, granulated
2 cupWater, warm
1 packDry yeast
Procedures:
1Mix flour, water, sugar and yeast together in plastic or glass container and let stand overnight, loosely covered, in a warm place.
2The next day, refrigerate, loosely covered.
3Stir every day.
4On the 5th day, add to the mixture 1c.
5Flour, 1c.
6Milk and ½c.
7Of sugar.
8Stir well and return to the refrigerator, loosely covered.
9Continue stirring daily.
10On the 10th day, remove 1c.
11Of the starter, set aside.
12The rest of the starter can be used in recipes or to give away to friends.
13Return the 1c.
14Of starter to the empty crock.
15To it, add 1c.
16Of flour, 1c.
17Milk and ½c.
18Of sugar.
19Repeat on the 5th day.
20Remember, you must stir each day.
21On the 10th day you will be ready to bake again.
22If you don"t wish to bake on the 10th day add 1tsp.
23Of sugar to the starter and repeat every 10th day until you are ready to bake.
24(but don"t wait to long, or you won"t be able to get anything else in the refrigerator).
