| 1 | Mix flour, water, sugar and yeast together in plastic or glass container and let stand overnight, loosely covered, in a warm place. |
| 2 | The next day, refrigerate, loosely covered. |
| 3 | Stir every day. |
| 4 | On the 5th day, add to the mixture 1c. |
| 5 | Flour, 1c. |
| 6 | Milk and ½c. |
| 7 | Of sugar. |
| 8 | Stir well and return to the refrigerator, loosely covered. |
| 9 | Continue stirring daily. |
| 10 | On the 10th day, remove 1c. |
| 11 | Of the starter, set aside. |
| 12 | The rest of the starter can be used in recipes or to give away to friends. |
| 13 | Return the 1c. |
| 14 | Of starter to the empty crock. |
| 15 | To it, add 1c. |
| 16 | Of flour, 1c. |
| 17 | Milk and ½c. |
| 18 | Of sugar. |
| 19 | Repeat on the 5th day. |
| 20 | Remember, you must stir each day. |
| 21 | On the 10th day you will be ready to bake again. |
| 22 | If you don"t wish to bake on the 10th day add 1tsp. |
| 23 | Of sugar to the starter and repeat every 10th day until you are ready to bake. |
| 24 | (but don"t wait to long, or you won"t be able to get anything else in the refrigerator). |
