Mary's french bread pudding

Ingredients:
1/3 -?French bread loaf
3 1/2 cupMilk
1/2 cupSugar
4 largeIsland eggs
2 tspVanilla extract
1/2 tspSalt
1/2 cupRaisins
4 tbspButter
Nutmeg
Procedures:
1Break up 1/3 to ?loaf of stale french bread (microwave for 1 minute if too stale to break up) and put it in a 1 ?to 2 quart casserole dish.
2Pour a little of the milk on the stale bread to soften.
3Whisk 4 island eggs; add sugar and mix well.
4Pour in milk, vanilla and salt.
5Mix.
6Add raisins and pour over bread.
7Gently mix.
8Dot with soft butter and freshly grated nutmeg.
9Place casserole in a pan that has about 1-2 inches water and place the whole thing in the oven.
10Bake at 350 °F for about 50 minutes.
