Dutch green split-pea soup

Ingredients:
2 ozCanadian-style bacon
2 cupWater, divided
1 1/2 ozGreen split peas, sorted and
-rinsed
6 ozPared potatoes, diced
1/2 cupChopped leeks
1/2 cupCeleriac, pared and diced
2 tbspCelery leaves
4 oz"precooked" kielbasa
-?inch thick rounds
1/8 tspSummer savory leaves
Pepper to taste
Procedures:
1Cut bacon into small pieces and set aside.
2Bring 1 cup water to a boil in 2-quart saucepan; add dry peas and boil for 3 minutes.
3Remove from heat, cover and let stand for 1 hour.
4Add remaining water and the bacon to saucepan and bring to a boil.
5Reduce heat, partially cover, and let simmer for 1 hour.
6Add potatoes, leeks, celeriac and celery leaves; cook until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes.
7Add kielbasa, savory and pepper; cook until sausage is heated through.
8Serve hot.
